Finalist in Printler.com Theme Competition "Places & Cities"

I´ve been chosen as finalist in the Printler Theme Competition "Places & Cities"

As you can see below my image "A fisherman's prayer" have been chosen as one of ten finalists in a Printler.com theme competition. The theme is "Places & Cities.

This picture was taken at Pite-Rönnskär in the most northern part of Västerbotten sweden. It's a small fisherman's island located just outside the cost of Kinnbäck, Sweden. It's a beautiful place that has lots to offer for visitors. On the Island, there is this chapel that was built in 1771 for the fisherman who had houses in the fishing village. In 1821 Pite-Rönnskär became a pilot station, and in 1849 a pilot cabin was built on the island. There are about 30-holiday homes on the island, formerly the homes were for Fishermen and Their Families During The fishing season.

I have visited this island as a child many times before and when I one day stumble over a picture online taken of the chapel I immediately felt that i wanted to do my take of that old chapel. Before I even sat my foot on the island i knew it had to be a B&W photo and the sun would be on the chapel´s right side at the time of the shooting. I wanted the picture to be wide so i shoot a 5 image wide panorama of the scene. Because of the lighting conditions i also shot bracketed 3 +/- 1 stop, a total of 15 images.

I like the feel of the image and how the clouds move through the scene in a feather like motion. It´s simple and strait forward composition where i use the wooden walking path to lead the viewer trough the image and up to the chapel. I wanted a kinda high contrast simple and timeless B&W photo and I think I manage to give the place justice.

Update 2017-10-20: The result has been revealed and my picture ended up on 3rd place in the competition.
